The director of the residency program, Curtis Doberstien, M.D. is chief of neurosurgery at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Neurosurgery at the two hospitals is especially strong in the areas of:
  • pediatrics;
  • neurooncology, including gamma knife radiosurgery;

  • cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgery;

  • complex and minimally invasive spine surgery for both traumatic and degenerative conditions; and

  • functional neurosurgery.

The Department of Neurosurgery works closely with colleagues in neurology, neuropathology, neuroradiology, interventional radiology, neuroscience, and pediatrics.
