Neuropathology
Background
Dr. Anthony is Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Professor of Neurology, at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University, and Pathologist-in-Chief at Lifespan Academic Medical Center. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, his M.D. and Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from Duke University, and is board-certified in anatomic pathology and neuropathology. Before assuming his position at Brown and Lifespan, he has been Assistant Professor of Pathology at Duke University, Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard University, and Professor and Chair of Pathology and Anatomy at the University of Missouri.
Research in Dr. Anthony’s laboratory explores several areas in the cellular and molecular neurosciences with a focus on translational biology and diagnostic neuropathology. Current projects include the pathobiology of primary brain tumors and a population of stem cells within them. The laboratory also has long-standing interests in tumor cell metastasis, neuromuscular pathobiology, and the pathobiology of intermediate filaments. His work has been funded by the NIH, NSF, and private foundations.
