Health Check: Tethered Cord
“When Deirdre heard about tethered cord syndrome, a disorder in which the spinal cord is stuck to a structure within the spine, she suspected that’s what her daughter had.
‘They said, ‘No she doesn’t have an abnormal gait, so it’s not tethered cord,” recalled Deirdre of the doctors she had seen in Boston…

‘For Lucky, the main concern was the symptoms progressed,’ said Klinge.
Klinge performed delicate surgery on Lucky’s spine.
‘The goal of the surgery is to free up the spinal cord,’ said Klinge.
‘This surgery really has been a saving grace for her. It has improved her quality of life immensely,’ said Deirdre.”
