Overview
The Brown University Sacral Tumor Center at Rhode Island Hospital combines extensive experience and technical expertise in the multidisciplinary treatment of sacral tumors. Our center is led by the chairman of the Brown /Lifespan Neurosurgery Department, Dr. Ziya L. Gokaslan, a world-renowned neurosurgeon, with unique expertise in sacral tumor treatment. Sacral tumors are rare and require experienced specialists in their treatment.
There are many different types of sacral tumors. They can broadly be classified as either being a metastasis or a primary bone tumor. Treatment ultimately depends on the tumor type. Our team of neurosurgeons, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, oncologists, and radiation oncologists work together to ensure patients receive personalized specialty care to ensure an optimal treatment outcome.
