Health Check: Newport Hospital offers procedure to help with back pain

“Newport Hospital is now offering a minimally invasive procedure for patients with compression fractures of the spine.

It’s not new, but it is now available for those patients, many of them elderly, who live on Aquidneck Island.

Josephine Wright, 90, is one of them.

“I had been in pain after Christmas and during January — a lot of pain,” recalled Wright.

She said she had excruciating back pain. Turned out, she had a compression fracture in her spine.
