The Melvyn M. Gelch, M.D. Fund

The Melvyn M. Gelch, MD Fund for Advanced Training of Neurosurgical Residents at Rhode Island Hospital (The Melvyn M. Gelch, MD Fund”) was launched in September 2006 by Mrs. Joan Gelch, to honor the late Melvyn Gelch, MD. Dr. Gelch was the residency program director and a longtime department faculty member. This endowment fund serves to create an annual program to provide neurosurgical residents with intensive training in state-of-the-art advances in neurosurgery, an area Dr. Gelch felt was of vital import.

The Melvyn M. Gelch, MD Fund will offer senior Rhode Island Hospital / Warren Alpert Medical School neurosurgical residents the opportunity to receive advanced, specialized training in neurosurgery at a distinguished institution or specified location for one or two weeks per year.
