Santos E. Santos Fontánez, MD

Dr. Santos E. Santos Fontánez is a neurosurgery resident at Brown Neurosurgery. Born and raised in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, he earned his undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón. He then obtained his medical degree from the Central University of the Caribbean in Bayamón. Before joining Brown University’s Department of Neurosurgery, he completed a neurosurgery internship at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Dr. Santos Fontánez chose Brown Neurosurgery for its commitment to excellence in patient care, opportunities for interdisciplinary research and collaboration, and the outstanding diversity and camaraderie within the residency program. His primary clinical interests lie in open cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery as well as skull base surgery driven by a deep passion for providing high-quality, life-changing care to his patients.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Santos Fontánez is dedicated to serving underserved communities, a mission he actively pursues through his work at Brown. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, running, working out, and spending time at the beach with his fiancée.
